My current work has been recent explorations with acrylic ink on wood and canvas. Canvas is something I have not worked with in many years and I am enjoying the physical response of the ink on it.
The theme I have been thinking about is "Horizons". Metaphorically, symbolically and literally. I feel it represents a gathering spot for hope and optimism. It also represents the end and the beginning i.e. sunrise, sunset. I have always been drawn to horizon lines and viewpoints that are a source of guidance or balance for me. It is also a frame of reference in the mechanics of design and drawing. The principles of perception and the vanishing point.
The acrylic inks I use have a richness of color and transparency allowing me to layer the colors and create new subtle variations particularly with blues which is the dominant hue in this series. They remind me of my years of working in stained glass and what inspired me about color.
